The flip-flop does the job, but only up to a point
There's nothing wrong with a flip-flop. At the pool, on the beach or for a quick trip out for bread, it's unbeatable. The problem starts when we ask more of it than it can give. Its design, a flat, thin sole and minimal support, is made for short stretches, not for a real day. After a few hours the foot notices it: nothing gripping the heel, no insole to accompany the step, zero structure. And aesthetically it stays stuck.
